Location: Georgian Bay Price: $4,900,000 Size: 4,000 square feet, plus an 800-square-foot guest cottage, on 16 acres of land Bedrooms: 6+1 Bathrooms: 4 Real estate agent: Elena Saradidis, Royal LePage Real Estate
A six-plus-one-bedroom, four-bathroom post-and-beam island escape sitting on 16 acres of land in Georgian Bay, near Massasauga Provincial Park. The property comes with a guest cottage, a separate garage, decks for days and two docks. It’s about a 30-minute boat ride from the Parry Sound Marina, which itself is a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Toronto.
These structures were built in 2004. The current owners are now selling since they’re looking for a vacation property closer to the city.
First, the main cottage and its great room. It has 20-foot ceilings plus floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay. The walls are clad in pine, the floors are blond beechwood and the beams are solid oak.
The great room has two walkouts to the huge deck.
A reverse angle highlights the open-concept kitchen and dining area as well as the loft level (and one dog that’s ready to party).
There’s also a wood-burning stone fireplace here—one of three in the home.
Here’s a closer look at the dining area, with a regal table that seats 12.
The kitchen is flanked by a breakfast bar that seats three.
The bar also comes with a six-burner gas cooktop, plenty of storage and a two-compartment sink.
Next to it is the breakfast nook. The antler chandelier is a nice touch.
As for appliances, the kitchen is equipped with double wall ovens, a dishwasher and a stainless steel fridge.
This additional living space sits one room over. It has another fireplace, cathedral ceilings and an attached powder room.
Here’s that powder room. Even the mirrors here are made from trees.
The main suite also has its own fireplace.
In the lake-themed ensuite bathroom: a corner tub, a double vanity and a stone shower.
Here’s that shower—like standing under a Georgian Bay waterfall.
There’s also a bonus loft here, accessed by a ladder.
It could be converted into an office, a lounge or a library.
Here’s one of the secondary bedrooms.
This shared bathroom has a stone-lined shower too.
Our last stop in the main house is the mudroom, which does triple duty as a pantry and laundry room.
Moving outside reveals the rear of the home and its enormous deck.
The view is stunning.
Here’s an aerial shot of the main cottage. The realtor says the grounds could accommodate both helicopter and seaplane landings.
How about this secluded dock perched on a cliff?
Across the rocky path through the forest is the guest house. Yes, that’s a hot tub out front.
Here’s another terrific view from the mini cottage.
Like the main house, the guest residence is decked out in pine, with beech floors.
Its lofted bedroom is also accessed by a ladder.
Note the vintage-style wood-burning fireplace in the corner.
Why leave bed with a view like this?
Here’s the bathroom.
The guest cottage is a short walk from the dock, which can host a 50-foot yacht.
Finally, here’s a super-wide shot of the property and its surrounding islands.
