Where to get a drink after 2 a.m.

Many of the city’s swankiest bars and clubs are jockeying for extended liquor licences, which will allow them to serve until 4 a.m. during festival week. An extended licence is a golden ticket to a mention in the next day’s gossip columns, given that it herds A-listers and their entourages through the doors.

This year, the special events office at TIFF HQ advised the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario on who is worthy of hosting the after-after-party crowd. So if you’re out and it’s after 2 a.m. and you’re thirsty, you’ll end up at one of nine places: Live @ Court House, Rosewater Supper Club, Park Hyatt, the InterContinental, the Spoke Club, The Social, Four Seasons, the Drake or the Windsor Arms. While venues can apply to the AGCO independently, most of the above are among TIFF’s 26 hospitality partners. It pays to belong.

Sopra (another partner) is one of a number of hot spots still waiting for approval from the AGCO telling them if they’re a go for late service. We’ve got our fingers crossed.—Katy P
