The Dish Power Rankings: Bieber takes his shirt off edition
Momofuku Milk Bar comes to Toronto; Twitter’s favourite teen idol shows up at a pool party; and a British hunk goes for brunch.
1. Cabana Pool Bar (↑5)
Justin Bieber and Deadmau5 got their day-drink on at the city’s hottest spot for showing some skin. Deadmau5 kept his shirt on. The Biebs did not.
2. Momofuku Milk Bar (new this week)
Momofuku brought its bake shop to Toronto. Cue Twitter riot over the insanely popular $48 crack pies.
3. OK OK Diner (new this week)
Robert Pattinson had brunch at the Leslieville restaurant after shooting a scene for David Cronenberg’s latest film there a few days prior.
4. Bar Isabel (↑1)
In his latest column, our critic gave Grant van Gameren’s aggressively hipster Spanish restaurant a solid three stars.
5. Playa Cabana Hacienda (new this week)
Just like the original Playa Cabana down the street and Cantina in the Junction, Hacienda is packed. Only three tables are open until next Tuesday.
6. La Carnita (↑3)
The city’s appetite for tacos seems insatiable. Even with three Playa Cabana franchises, the College Street spot is still pulling hour-long lineups on the weekend.
7. Rock Lobster Queen (new this week)
With a full seafood bar and a sweet courtyard, the new Queen Street shop is drawing even bigger crowds than the already crushed Ossington location.
8. Amsterdam BrewHouse (new this week)
All four patios, which have a combined 300 seats, at Amsterdam Brewery’s new waterfront mega-complex have been hopping since they opened earlier this month.
9. Woods (new this week)
Globe food critic Chris Nuttall-Smith says Bruce Wood’s new Financial District restaurant isn’t any good. We disagree.
10. THR&Co. (↓2)
The reservation book at Cory Vitiello’s new restaurant is open from 8:30 p.m. both nights this weekend.
Shinan Govani spotted socialite Stacey Jordan (formerly Kimmel) heaping all kinds of fancy fixings on a custom ice cream bar at The Magnum Pleasure Store. Though the initial hullabaloo around Clafouti’s Orea-stuffed Cronut knockoff is over, some media outlets are still discovering the Crookie for the first time.
Dropped off the list: Amber, Bellwood’s Brewery, Le Dolci, Pusateri’s and The Drake Hotel
