What’s on the menu at Teara Lab, a new Japanese sandwich shop

Name: Teara Lab
Neighbourhood: University
Contact: 181 College St., 647-351-6680, tearalab.com, @TearaLab
Owner: Frank Liu and New Trend Hospitality (Kaka All-You-Can-Eat)
Chef: Frank Liu
The food
Inspired by the popularity of Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake and Tsujiri’s matcha menu, Liu decided to introduce the city to Japanese sandwiches. The club sandwich–style creations are stacked with fried pork cutlets, teriyaki chicken and soy-glazed pork belly, as well as Japanese condiments like wasabi mayonnaise and tonkatsu sauce.
The drinks
Various fruit and milk teas (extras like tapioca, red bean and lychee jelly can be added) and slushy drinks (matcha, mango). Teara Lab also carries the full line of Ramuné, a carbonated soft drink from Japan that’s known for its codd-neck bottle.
The space
The bare-bones room can seat 20, but the sandwiches are also available to go.
