A Middle Eastern snack shop on Queen West from the owner of the Gourmet Bitches truck

Rose City Kitchen, the latest snack counter to hit Queen West, hopes to do for shawarma what nearby Banh Mi Boys did for Vietnamese subs: transform a familiar snack staple into a trendy culinary commodity. Opening in late January at 406 Queen Street, the 15-seat restaurant is a new venture from foodie entrepreneur Shontelle Pinch, one half of the two-woman crew behind healthy food truck Gourmet Bitches. Unlike the truck, Rose City will stick to Middle Eastern dishes like falafel, flatbreads and slaws—a welcome departure from the strip’s ever-intensifying burgerfication.
I really hope these guys did their research. Being from Ottawa I’ve eaten the best shawarma in the province. I’ve found that the Lebanese style is the best. With both the juiciness of the chicken and the perfect toum (garlic sauce). I have not found anything in the city that matches it’s taste and quality. Good luck, bitches.
Yeah that’s what Queen West was missing, Middle Eastern Food, it will go well with all the other similar places, maybe we can have a few more Indian food places, or Asian food choices (sarcasm).
I love the succulent drips of sarcasm that hang off of my falafel….and what, pray tell, is wrong with bugerfication? What are you, some left leaning hipster “reporter” or waiter sponging of their parents trust fu…err…nevermind
Mmmm shawarma & the best st aka Queen St W
Hi Lawrence,
Just to clarify…Shontelle Pinch is working in collaboration with Rose City Kitchen, which is a new restaurant venture completely independent of the Gourmet Bitches.
As for the authenticity of the food, we are taking traditional middle eastern dishes and adding a modern twist.
Thank you,
