America is the restaurant that recently replaced Stock, the slightly stuffy dining room on the 31st floor of Trump Tower. It officially opened last week, just in time to receive all the big movie moguls and celebrities in town for TIFF. (According to the Star, the restaurant will be hosting a bunch of festival-related press conferences and after-parties, plus one big gala dinner). So, what will the beautiful millionaires be eating, or not eating, as the case may be? The menu, which can be viewed in its entirety here, trades Stock’s classic mains and sides for cooler, clubbier options, like foie-gras flapjacks, cauliflower mac ‘n’ cheese and—for true high-rollers—a $10,000 bottle-service option that includes six litres of Ace of Spades champagne. (Some menu descriptions are a little obscure, in a prose poem-ish sort of way—for instance, a dessert called “The Clusterphuck” is apparently composed of “inspired chocolate barks” and “guillotine chopped chef’s combinations.”) One thing hasn’t changed, though: in the grand tradition of fancy hotels everywhere, the crappy continental breakfast still costs $25.
