Come and Get It, the delightfully sloppy sandwich pop-up at Queen and Spadina, was pegged from day one as a temporary deal. So we were dismayed, but not terribly surprised, to learn that it was closing on October 25. Now it looks like the shop has won itself (and the sandwich-eating public) a permanent reprieve. On November 1, the restaurant moves into brand-new digs at 677 Queen West, the space currently occupied by soon-to-close wine bar Mavrik. Fans can expect a similar lineup of sandwiches, salads and poutines, plus a nighttime snack menu and cocktail list, and, we can only assume, a touch less DIY decor than the makeshift original.
