The CNE releases its 2014 stunt-food lineup

In a matter of days, thousands of Toronto digestive tracts will be forced to do business with all kinds of weird and potentially troublesome things. Included on this year’s list of novelty trash snacks: butter-flavoured coffee, bacon-wrapped corn on the cob, peanut butter Sriracha rolls, a corn dog–funnel cake hybrid and chocolate fried chicken (a 2014 food trend we predicted back in January). And don’t worry: the CNE has instituted new measures to ensure that none of this stuff makes you puke (for sanitation-related reasons, at least).
It seems like, at this point, they just take a giant hat and a bunch of people write down one thing they like and then they just pull out 3 random entries at a time and THAT becomes a menu item. “OK, so menu item # 1 I’ve got “rolls’ on the first entry… “Sriracha” is the second entry and “peanut butter” s the third entry. OK, so Sriracha peanut butter rolls is our first item to make people pretend they’re actually not that bad’ It really shows they’re just out of ideas other than trying to outbad each other.
Corn on the cob bacon, chicken marinated in cola and wrapped in bacon, and wash it down with a pie flavoured milkshake! For desert there’s chocolate fried chicken, and you can get rid of that food coma with butter coffee!
Not that I can eat cheese anymore :( but I’d really like to see Pizza Delight back. Bring a bit of the East Coast over to Toronto… who really needs the same old cardboard Pizza Pizza?!
