Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, and Linda Cardellini in an oddball picture about talk shows, fame and mental illness seems like the makings of a patented Rib Tickler of a red carpet, no? Sadly, not when it’s, like, a gazillion degrees outside. The trio did their duties as best they could, tromping around the asphalt in front of the Princess of Wales Theatre on Friday afternoon for the world premiere of Welcome to Me. The Shira Piven–directed flick follows Wiig’s character, Alice Klieg, a woman with borderline personality disorder who hits the lottery and spends the proceeds on producing a cable-access talk show about her own life. Real-life Wiig, meanwhile, had little time to chat. She and her costars shook hands, signed signables and generally tended to their screaming fans. Horseplay, though, was minimal.
