Vladimir Guerrero Jr. deserves his flowers, and we’re happy to see he’s receiving them.
Toronto may not have gotten the World Series win and subsequent victory procession we hoped for, but fans in his hometown of Don Gregorio, Dominican Republic threw Vladdy a parade last week to welcome him back after taking the Blue Jays to their first World Series in 32 years.

And last night, the Blue Jays first baseman was named Entertainer of the Year at the MLB Awards, adding to many accolades racked up during the postseason, including the first grand slam in Blue Jays postseason history during the ALDS. (We re-watched it to write this. Take us back.)
While Guerrero Jr. is a super-talented baseball player, clearly, the award recognizes how fun he is to watch. His “Daaa Yankees Lose” remark after the Jays beat New York has become our favourite catchphrase, and it was touching to see his support for other athletes, especially Marie-Philip Poulin, whose Team Canada hockey jersey he wore before game seven of the World Series.
Until next season, Vladdy!
