In a lengthy investigative piece published earlier today, the Globe presents evidence that Rob and Doug Ford used their influence to lobby senior city staffers. The brothers were apparently trying to win city business for a printing company called Donnelley Canada. The disturbing part is that Donnelley had just entered into a partnership with the Ford family business, Deco Labels and Tags, meaning the mayor could have personally benefitted from a fat city contract. No work was ever awarded to Donnelley. The Globe says the story came to light after an ex-Deco vice president became incensed at the mayor’s anti-semitic comments and turned whistleblower. What’s more, the Fords have been caught doing this kind of thing before.
