In council chambers this morning, during a standing ovation in honour of the city staff members and organizers who helped pull off last month’s WorldPride celebrations, a certain mayor decided not to join in the good vibes. Rob Ford, who has pointedly never attended the Pride parade and who once reportedly called Justin Trudeau a “fag,” remained in his seat while his council colleagues rose to applaud, according to the Globe. Afterward, when reporters bombarded him with questions, the mayor insisted, as he has in the past, that the snub was nothing personal. “You guys have been asking me this question for 14 years and you know the answer,” he said, “I’m not homophobic. I’m not homophobic.”
