Rob Ford demotes Jaye Robinson (i.e. the councillor who publicly urged him to take a leave of absence)

In the latest outburst of childishness at city hall, Rob Ford and centrist councillor Jaye Robinson are bickering over why—and how—the mayor booted her off his executive committee yesterday. Ford insists he just wanted “some fresh blood” and Robinson’s frequent public calls for him to temporarily step aside to sort out the recent crack scandal had nothing to do with it her demotion. Robinson, meanwhile, accused Ford of not tolerating differing viewpoints and suggested he’ll be more comfortable now that his 13-member committee is all male. Robinson was also riled that the mayor didn’t dump her in person, doing it instead via a phone call to her staff (though Ford said he tried to reach her six times). Sadly, this isn’t the first time the mayor and a councillor have publicly argued over whether he called. [National Post]
