After quitting the “Cut the Waist” challenge on his radio show this weekend, Rob Ford took to the radio again to clarify that he isn’t completely done with celery sticks and weight lifting. On the John Tory Show Monday afternoon, Ford said his comments were taken out of context: when he said “I’m not even dieting anymore,” he meant to say something along the lines of “Leave me alone, you fat-shamers, I’ll lose weight... eventually. Probably.” The mayor said he will still do a final weigh-in on June 18 (brother Doug Ford is continuing with the weekly check-ins) and then continue his quest to shed 50 pounds, without the reporters who “just sit there and wait for you Monday like piranhas.” Sure, weight loss is a struggle and is especially hard for someone in the public eye, but Ford sounded mighty defensive about all the attention he has gotten, given that he invited media to the weigh-ins from the start.
