The Raptors are Toronto’s current great hope of sporting success. For the last two years, they’ve dominated their division and scored a playoff spot—only to choke in the first round. Never mind: long-dormant enthusiasts and a generation of kids who were raised on a diet of Vince Carter’s highlight dunks are the NBA’s most dedicated, most obsessive fan base, the type of nutjobs who’ll stand outside the ACC in rain, sleet or snow to cheer on the team inside.
