Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are coming to Canada in May

Attention monarchists: Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will be making an official royal visit from May 20 to 23 in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The duo, who somehow manage to be both salacious and square, will begin their journey in New Brunswick at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown on May 21, followed by a stopover in Saint John for a Queen’s birthday celebration, a fireworks show in Toronto (!) and a symphony performance in Regina. Wee-ow! Considering their last visit cost $1.76 million, the Queen’s 2010 visit cost $2.79 million and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s tour last year cost $1.2 million, many were wondering just how much taxpayers would be set back for this trip. However, according to James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Charles and Camilla’s trip will cost a mere $1 million before security costs.
