Porter Airlines has a couple of feathers to add to its cap this week. Its hub, the Toronto Island Airport, is one step closer to getting its proposed pedestrian tunnel, and now the airline itself is being wooed by destinations anxious to share in the airline’s success. Federica Nazzani, the CEO of the Windsor International Airport, is optimistic that Porter will soon operate flights from Windsor to Toronto, hoping the route will help increase business in the city. She claims opportunities are lost when travellers drive to Toronto or Detroit for flights. We can’t muster up much excitement for flights to Windsor, but we like the precedent. Perhaps the overlords at LaGuardia, Washington National and Philly International could take a page out of Nazzani’s playbook?
