Porter adds two new destinations, but they’re probably not what you were hoping for

No DC or Philly flights for Porter just yet. The Toronto Island-based airline announced new destinations today and it looks like Frederica Nazzani, CEO of the Windsor National Airport, succeeded in her efforts to woo Porter into offering flights to and from Canada’s south-most city. Porter will begin flights to Windsor on April 27, and will add another new destination, Sault Ste. Marie, on May 4. Fares start at $89 and $99, respectively (not including pesky fees and taxes, of course.)

In a Porter press release, Sandra Pupatello, Ontario’s Minster of Economic Development and Trade and MMP to Windsor West, makes the point that Porter’s expansion provides access to important regional cities: “Porter’s expanded service provides a boost to Ontario’s economy—market access and ease of travel are certainly considerations for businesses making investment decisions and tourists making travel plans.”

If these new destinations don’t drum up extreme excitement, Porter’s increased service on three core routes—Montreal-Halifax, Moncton-Ottawa and Toronto-Ottawa—should be slightly more smile-inducing. Those start April 13.
