Mikey Ford probably isn’t running for city council, after all

Earlier this week, Doug Ford hinted at the possibility that his college-aged nephew “Mikey” Ford would run for city council in 2014, but now it seems as though late-night comics and political cartoonists may be denied the precious gift of a whole new generation’s worth of Ford-related drama. Speaking with the Globe about his intention to run for a seat at Queen’s Park, uncle Doug tried to downplay the likelihood of young Michael joining the grownups at city hall. “I don’t think Michael is going to be running as a city councillor,” Doug said, leaving open the possibility that his nephew will instead run for school-board trustee—a position that many politicians have used as a stepping stone to higher office. Can’t Mikey just use his family connections to get an internship, like a normal overprivileged 20-something?
