When it comes to who makes headlines these days, it turns out hormonal teenage girls with a penchant for dreamy side-swept bangs hold a lot of clout. As such, this post is about Justin Bieber. The 16-year-old heartthrob nabbed four of the top 10 spots on YouTube’s list of most watched music videos in the world this year.
While there was other major pop talent on the list—Shakira, Eminem, Rihanna and Lady Gaga were all represented—there’s no denying that Bieber’s got the on-line medium of YouTube on lockdown.
The Stratford teen got his break on the video-sharing site back in 2008, so it’s fitting that Bieber’s hit “Baby” took home the number one spot with more than 400 million views. We were left scratching our head as to what it is about this video that inspires such wild popularity, but then, our generation made these guys stadium-sellout stars. So go figure.
