The 93-year-old automotive parts tycoon previously pleaded not guilty to 12 charges involving seven complainants who said Stronach assaulted them between 1977 and 1990. As reported by the Canadian Press, throughout the trial, prosecutors withdrew one charge and determined Stronach should be found not guilty on four others. Five counts related to three complainants remained.
The charges Stronach was found guilty of today both involve Rooney’s, a restaurant and nightlife complex Stronach once owned. One complainant was a former employee of the establishment, and one was a frequent guest.
A sentencing hearing will take place in September, while Stronach faces an additional trial on similar charges next May, in Newmarket.
