Doug Ford patronizes an entire country

At a ceremonial raising of the Chinese flag at city hall this morning, mayoral candidate Doug Ford came close to repeating his brother’s infamous diplomatic error. According to the Star’s Daniel Dale, Ford called Chinese-Canadians “extremely hardworking people.” But it didn’t stop there. “We’re like-minded in the way that the Chinese community is very fiscally responsible,” Ford added, presumably thinking that the generalization would be taken as a compliment. “And I know one thing: they want subways. They don’t want anything else.”
