Pearson Airport is newly swank-ified and Air Canada will soon have some fancy jets to match. This spring, the airline is getting its hands on 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a fleet that will rise to 37 by 2019. The planes, which begin flying their first regular route between Toronto and Tel Aviv in July, are packed with high-tech features, the best of which—naturally—are in the international business class cabin. They include: seats that flatten out to 180-degrees; adjustable pneumatic headrests with a massage function; 18-inch TV screens; and Lavazza espresso and cappuccino machines. Still, plebes in economy needn’t feel too jealous since all passengers will enjoy enhanced definition touch screens, as well as a quieter flight, cleaner air, bigger overhead bins, higher humidity levels (so you won’t be panicking if you forget your Chapstick) and windows that are 30 per cent larger than the usual dinky portholes. The pressing question: is a more comfortable ride enough to outweigh the slightly alarming number of issues the aircraft has had? [Air Canada]
