A Toronto police officer has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation by Peel’s Special Investigations Unit.
In addition to three counts of sexual assault, Farhan Ali also faces three counts of assault and four counts of mischief.
Police declined to provide further information when asked by CP24, as the matter is before the courts. A police spokesperson did confirm that the allegations are unrelated to Ali’s on-duty conduct, as the alleged incidents are reported to have occurred outside of work.
In accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act, Ali has been suspended with pay.
A web page that formerly included the bio of Ali has been taken offline. Previously, it had said, “Thorncliffe Park neighbourhood community officer Farhan Ali loves connecting with the community.”
