On a scale of fashion-related risk taking, Torontonians often fall somewhere between “buttoned-up” and “the Amish,” which is why we adore telecom trophy wife Suzanne Rogers, who stands out like a bejewelled pageant queen at a minimalist Calvin Klein show.

True, some outfits are more successful than others, but we love a gal who isn’t afraid to make a Hollywood-style splash. We’ve gathered some of S-Ro’s most Us Weekly–inspired fashion statements. Take a look at them after the jump.

When we spotted Rogers at the OneXOne gala during this year’s film fest, we knew her over-the-top ensemble looked familiar. The frothy frock is the work of Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, who obviously sought inspiration from a certain Thelma and Louise star. Of course, Geena Davis wore her dress in the fashion-challenged early ’90s (the era that brought us Blossom hats and bicycle shorts), but what’s Rogers’ excuse?

Rogers tips her hat (or should we say collar?) to another Hollywood icon in an outfit that made us wonder: If she’s here, then who’s living in Barbie’s dream house? Gwyneth Paltrow’s shorter version is only better in that it is shorter—because when you’re wearing Pepto Bismol pink, less really is more.

Remember when Madonna released her children’s book and briefly dressed like Margaret Thatcher at a garden party? Rogers channels the material girl’s—make that the material matron’s—conservative floral frock attending a party at Holt Renfrew. Madge’s dress looks like it’s cutting off circulation to her brain. Advantage: Rogers.

The year’s hottest style ticket was a Rogers-hosted fashion show in honour of the great Oscar de la Renta. Rogers wore a number by the guest of honour and looked a lot like Cameron Diaz, who wore flaxen de la Renta to this year’s Oscars. So, does this mean we can soon expect to see S-Ro riding a surfboard in Hawaii and getting into the wacky tabacci with Drew Barrymore? We wish.

Rogers attends the grand reopening of The Bay’s buzzy St. Regis Room sporting two of last year’s most ubiquitous trends: leather and volume. Kim Kardashian dons a similarly Betty Boop–inspired ensemble at an L.A. party for Pepsi Max.
