Address: 81A Front Street East , Unit 412
Neighbourhood: St. Lawrence
Agent: David Bierkek , Re/Max Hallmark Realty Ltd., Brokerage
Price: $799,000
The place: The biggest penthouse in a pre-Confederation building.
The history: The Thomas Helliwell Block was completed in 1857. It originally served as a warehouse, and was converted into condos in 2003. The owners who lived in this unit until 2006 upgraded nearly everything, and the current owners went even further. They installed new kitchen countertops and even managed to convince the condo board to let them add skylights.
Big selling point: This home has all the historic features one would expect from such an old building, including exposed beams and cornerstones, weathered brick and 16-foot ceilings.
Possible deal breaker: There isn’t any parking. The current owners found a rental space nearby, but whoever buys this place may not need to do likewise. With St. Lawrence Market across the street and a big LCBO downstairs, most of life’s necessities can be had on foot.
By the numbers:
• $799,000
• 1,300 square feet (approximately)
• $930 in monthly fees
• 16-foot ceilings in the living room
• 2 bathrooms
• 1 den
• 1 bedroom
• 1 wine fridge
• 1 jet-filled tub

eh
You’ve got to be kidding?!!
For $800K you would think you can look out of a window.
Nice. If I had the bucks I’d buy it and then pay extra condo fees to put in rooftop deck!
Yeah is this in a basement (re lack of windows)… makes sense why 1,300 sq feet is only $800K
I found 4 different windows, I don’t know what everybody’s talking about. A penthouse is also an apartment/condo on the top floor of a building. Its not in a basement. For 800,000 this is amazing, and look at the location its in. This is one of the best deals for a condo I’ve seen. Someone will scoop this one up real quick
Its not in a basement, look up the definition of “penthouse”. I counted 4 different windows myself, including skylights. The neighborhoods great, the size is stupendous for the price. This is a great deal
It’s not a basement nor is it a penthouse. It’s the attic! Look at the roof line sloping in the unit.
$800,000 no outdoor space, no parking? Just no
parking not necessary for the area, outside space? its a condo, at best you get a balcony. and the area is gorgeous
