It’s official: Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche and Paul Giamatti will star in new Toronto-shot David Cronenberg flick
Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric and Paul Giamatti are confirmed as the stars of the new David Cronenberg film Cosmopolis. Based on the Don DeLillo book of the same name, the film will go into production here this summer. This film marks the director’s return to Toronto after shooting both A Dangerous Method—his latest, currently in post-production—and 2007’s Eastern Promises abroad.
According to a press release received earlier today, Cosmopolis is “a contemporary thriller about a hedge fund trader who is stalked, while his fortune evaporates under the weight of his cynical bets against the survival of the global economy.” The story follows one Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he goes through a single day in New York, trying to get a haircut. Sounds like the film will be a creepy mix of Ulysses, recession horrors and Barbershop.

Weirdest cast ever?
Interesting premise. Sounds very dark. Will have to go find the book. Quite a mix for the cast. Has the potential to be a gripping movie.
