Women’s Wear Daily sort of applauds Toronto fashion

Torontonians can be down on themselves—self-deprecation becomes a habit when you’re the centre of the universe. But pockets of the city roared with excitement this afternoon because a New York-based publication, Women’s Wear Daily, stamped our fair city with its seal of approval: an LG Fashion Week mention.

Yes, it is exciting to see Anita Clarke, Tiyana Grulovic, Odessa Paloma Parker and more in an international publication, but with the subjects left unnamed and a pretty thin description of Toronto fashion, we wonder why Torontonians are so quick to go gaga for a magazine that barely knows we exist. We’ll savour the moment, though, much like everyone else.
