Winter Guide 2015: Kids Coat

It’s hard to rock a toboggan run when glacial winds are blasting your face, but that’s always been the trade-off: cold, stinging skin for a bit of winter fun. Until now. AI Riders on the Storm, a new-to-Toronto brand from Italian designer Giovanni Chicco, has a novel solution for kids who aren’t afraid to stand out. Its patent-protected winter parka zips all the way up to the crown of the head, enclosing the wearer’s face in a down-filled cocoon. It’s surprisingly comfortable: the curved anti-fog goggles are designed to maximize peripheral vision, and there are ventilation patches over the mouth, nose and ears. Bright colours and a detachable pompom help soften the Sleestak aesthetic. $349. 2947 Yonge St., 647-349-7422, chlk.com.
