Video: how to pull off—or not—365 layers of makeup
There’s always been some debate about how much makeup is too much, and in this video we found, it seems directors Lernert and Sander wanted to push the limits of how much can be pancaked on before a waif model suffers serious skin damage. After nine hours and 365 layers of different kinds of makeup, doesn’t she look, um, amazing? Who doesn’t like looking like their face has melted?
Gross. But, why no credit for the model at the end? Poor woman must’ve been sitting with her head in that white styrofoam birthing canal for hours.
I hope that poor girl was well paid for this. Yetch!
it does say “starring Hannelore Knuts” at the beginning. Apparently it took 9 hours to shoot and she could only eat/drink through a straw.
Bah! That’s nothing! I’ve seen more. And worse.
Hi Dr. Isis! One of my friends coplyased as Prince Zuko at an anime convention earlier this year, and he didn’t need to buy any special effect makeup at all. For the burns around the eye, he used a dark pink lipstick for the larger scar area and a darker maroon one for the inner area. He used glue sticks and crumpled up tissue paper for the scar tissue effect. Liquid latex would probably hold the tissue better, but as long as you keep a glue stick on hand for touch-ups, it isn’t strictly necessary. You can do additional shading with eyeshadow and eyeliner. Hope that helped! I bet Little Isis will make for a very dashing Zuko.
