Several designers at last week’s pre-Fashion Week shows revealed all-white looks for spring/summer 2013, a trend that also dominated in Milan earlier this year. London-based Jean-Pierre Braganza presented a nonchalant tux (far left) on the runway at The Shows, and Jeremy Laing revealed a matching jacket and bottoms (second from left)—albeit in cotton, which took the trend in a sportier direction. Tanya Taylor’s take on the car coat and structured pants (third from left) was retro-cool, while Chloé Comme Parris’s floaty dress (far right) was utterly modern. All four ensembles also shared another all-important element: an embellished detail—a black collar, for instance, or a row of snaps. The evidence of workmanship ensured each look stayed on the runway and out of other less fashion forward environments—like nursing stations, Glad commercials and kids television shows involving a friendly ghost.
