Since launching three years ago, Mala Boutique has earned a loyal clientele of North Toronto moms and pre-teens with its mix of colourful kids’ clothes and trendy grown-up pieces from brands like Splendid, J Brand and Free People. The uptown address kept the shop off most downtown residents’ radars, though—until recently, when Mala owner Lauren Wise took her fashion show on the road. Mala Go-tique is a massive, pastel-hued boutique-on-wheels, and it carries a surprisingly voluminous amount of stuff. Shoppers will find sundresses, pretty peasant blouses and artfully frayed denim cut-offs, as well as delicate jewellery, cool vintage clutch purses and sunglasses from Nicole Richie’s accessories line, House of Harlow. As for the trying-things-on situation, rest assured: there is a fully functional change room on-board.
