Toronto Fashion Week runs from October 22 to 26, in a large—and stylishly appointed—tent at David Pecaut Square. We’re posting full galleries from the buzziest runways. It’s time to forget about the chilly weather and imagine what life (or at least fashion) will be like in spring/summer 2013.

DESIGNER
Pink Tartan by Kimberley Newport-Mimran

IN A SENTENCE Pink Tartan’s reworked classics offer a balance between contemporary pieces appropriate for the office and flirty, girly clothes for evening.

THE SCENE Newport-Mimran is one half of a high-powered fashion partnership (her husband is Joe Fresh’s Joe Mimran), so it was no surprise to see social bigwigs like the Nugents sitting front row, along with all three of the city’s most famous SuzannesBoyd, Cohon and Rogers. Pink Tartan also brought in models Irina Lăzăreanu, Alana Zimmer and Charlotte Free to stomp down the runway. Free, famous both for her shock of pink hair, and for Kate Moss comparisons (she, too, is only 5-foot-seven) opened and closed the show.

THE COLLECTION Butterflies and bustiers and baby pink—this collection is decidedly femme. Butterflies in rich magenta and pink adorn said bustiers, along with cardigans and silk blouses. Newport-Mimran also uses a sumptuous mint green in an unfortunate retro print for bouncy dresses and skirts, and more bustiers. Pleats are everywhere, even adorning the back of one dress shirt.

BEST PIECES A shimmery sequined skirt with silver sparkles in varying sizes would be eye-catching (if not blinding) for social events. A white button-up, which is plain in the front and both sheer and pleated in the back, would work under a blazer for day and transition seamlessly for nighttime.
