After two successful years at Vaughan Mills, good friends Jeff Karadjian and Haigo Derian have opened a second location of their gleaming fine-jewellery shop, Cupido. The Bayview Village boutique opened in October and offers luxury labels, such as Hermès, alongside European brands new to Canada for a lust-inducing collection of interesting and inspired objets d’art for the body. Here are some of our favourite finds from the store.

Unlike logo-embossed accessories from mega brands, many of the lines Karadjian and Derian carry have interesting stories or are connected to charities. For example, the Human Rights collection from Italy’s DeMaria (proceeds go to Amnesty International) includes chunky silver and gold rings ($350) engraved with messages from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. DeMaria’s roots are evident in its Saints collection, which features iconic Roman Catholic symbols adorning ornate rings and necklaces. Design-your-own jewellery from Pandora is a great gift idea. Shoppers can select candy-hued handmade Murano glass beads and charms (from $35) to decorate the gorgeous base bracelets. Cupido also carries a selection of quality timepieces. Most notable are the exclusive Swiss Ernst Benz chronograph wristwatches (from $2,700). Designed by an aviator, they are modelled after a pioneering post-war aircraft instrument used to record time.
