Freewheeling anti–Ferris wheeler Glen Murray (smartly) wants to slow down the Port Lands development

Apparently, the responsible and efficient development of the Port Lands is more complicated than simply taking the reins away from Doug Ford. Months after daily talk of carnival rides, Glen Murray has a host of new, more pressing concerns about the waterfront project. According to the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Centre MPP is worried about erecting walls of condominiums that would block waterfront views and, more importantly, depreciating land values through accelerated development (“This is bad planning and jumping the gun,” Murray told the national newspaper). Murray’s resume certainly suggests he knows his stuff—he is a former mayor of Winnipeg and the current minister of training, colleges and universities—and we think he might be onto something here. Read the entire story [Globe and Mail] »
