If recent reports are accurate, those “motherfuckers” have really worn down CUPE Local 416 president Mark Ferguson. Things have been tense between Ferguson and CUPE’s paramedics, who weren’t satisfied with the union’s latest contract with the city. One paramedic told the Globe and Mail that Ferguson, after getting frustrated with questions about the new collective agreement, said, “You know what? I quit. I’m out of here.” While the agreement gave paramedics the essential service designation they wanted, they’re still without their own bargaining unit (Ferguson had called the deal “the best municipal and/or paramedic contract in Canada”).
