Fans of British eyewear expert Cutler and Gross have a new Toronto flagship to frequent. (Sadly, the brand had to relocate from its previous Yorkville space after its building caught fire in January.) The new shop, at 754 Queen West near Bellwoods Avenue, perfectly complements the label’s unique brand of understated cool. The space is all about subtle contrasts: clean white countertops, black mirrored floor and endless rows of impossibly chic, handcrafted glasses. They come in every style imaginable, from hot-pink cat-eye frames to delicate tortoiseshell spectacles. Our favourites, though, are these thick-rimmed, circular shades, which have a great retro-glam look. Unfortunately, these sunnies don’t come cheap: the least expensive pairs are priced around $400.
