A Toronto start-up has invented Tinder for fashion

Blynk, a Toronto-based start-up, has developed a new app that uses Tinder’s addictive swipe technology to help those in need of fashion inspiration. Instead of matching people with attractive mates, Blynk matches users to an endless stream of stylish outfits. As with the dating app, a left swipe sends an outfit hurtling into oblivion, while a right-swipe sends it flying into a virtual closet, where it’s stashed for safekeeping.

Here’s the best part, though: unlike Tinder, Blynk actually learns, allowing it to make personalized clothing suggestions after every 20 swipes. Users can then refer to the items as inspiration, send them to a friend for a second opinion, or shop them directly by clicking through to the retailer. It’s sort of like a professional stylist, only much cheaper (free, in fact) and less likely to coerce you into a tacky new trend. The app launched yesterday for Android users, but iPhone owners will have to wait until next week to try it out.
