This futuristic workout shirt can replace your personal trainer

In the post-Fitbit era, there are tons of gadgets on the market that track our movements and discourage excessive couch lounging. Athos, a new line of smart activewear, does something even more impressive: it analyzes the quality of your workout. Designed by a Toronto native, the high-tech shirts and leggings contain 12–14 built-in EMG sensors (i.e., electromyography technology, usually found in hospitals and science labs) that measure muscle activity, heart rate and breathing levels—so the wearer can see exactly which muscles are working, how hard and in what order. The data is collected in real time and sent via Bluetooth to the user’s iPhone, letting them correct their form, assess their efforts and, ultimately, have the most efficient workout possible. The clothes make their Canadian debut today at SportChek (and yes, they’re breathable and machine washable). $185—$230. Liveathos.com
