Souvenir Studios is a new shop, studio and event space in Brockton Village

Souvenir Studios, a new boutique on College Street, opened last month in what used to be a Mexican restaurant, but any evidence of its burrito-serving days has been erased, replaced with sparkling white walls and artfully arranged trinkets. Owner Danielle Suppa, a designer who’s worked at The Bay and Joe Fresh, launched the shop after running a series of smaller pop-ups around the city with Etsy’s Trisha Lepper. Inspired by a two-month stint in Amsterdam, she also uses the shop as a personal design studio (she offers freelance services and crafts her own line of stationery and men’s ties) and event space (she’s hosted floral design workshops and the space is available for anyone looking for alternative party venues). Suppa stocks the shelves by hunting down thoughtfully made items on Instagram, at local markets and through creative friends—and the vibe reflects her crafty-yet-polished aesthetic: “I like things that are handmade, but don’t look like they’re handmade,” she says.

The store carries plenty of merchandise for under $30, but Suppa also sets aside space for a few ultra-special items, like this vintage rug from Turkey, which goes for $1,700.

Though the space is permanent, Suppa keeps the pop-up spirit alive by regularly building temporary in-store concepts, like this mini-pantry.

Shoppers can usually expect a selection of ceramics, like these speckled pieces from Montreal maker YYY Ceramics.

The store’s the only boutique in Toronto to stock these delicate rings and earrings from Toronto jewellery label Cadette.

Also in the shop: beautifully packaged fragrances from Montreal perfumery Les Lares, which would make great holiday gifts.
