Pop-Up Pick: At Magwood's summer vintage sale, shop hundreds of mid-century and designer pieces at a steal

Toronto’s retail pop-up scene is gaining momentum, with new shopping opportunities emerging (and then disappearing) all the time. We’re keeping a lookout for the temporary shops you don’t want to miss.

Magwood, the luxury vintage boutique on Queen West, peddles an impossibly chic selection of mid-century cocktail wear—which is why it’s beloved by fashion editors and celebrities alike. But the Victorian lace, Deco silk and designer pieces from YSL, Dior and Hermés—curated by the shop’s stylish owner Sarah Magwood—don’t come cheap, and not everyone can afford to drop $1,000 on a 1960s beaded silk gown. There’s good news for frugal collectors, though: the boutique is holding a giant (and very affordable) outdoor summer sale in its garden this weekend (that is, June 14 and 15). There will be tonnes of vintage clothing and accessories, all sourced from a private collection that has been in storage for decades. And prices are—according to Magwood—ridiculous. Most items items will be selling for $10 to $50, with high-end designer gear priced between $30 and $100. Provided you’re down with a little rummaging, you’re likely to find some amazing deals—like a Karl Lagerfeld pleated skirt for $50 and a silk Prada dress for an incredible $80.

Jun. 14-15. Magwood Summer Vintage Sale, 886 Queen St. W., magwood.ca
