Pop-Up Pick: A one-time chance to shop Toronto designer Cara Cheung's striking looks

Fashion-conscious Torontonians probably know the name Cara Cheung from her strong collection at Fashion Week last fall. Since then, the Ryerson grad’s embellished minis and bold jewellery have been spotted on more than a few local celebrities, including e-Talk’s Tanya Kim and Much Music’s Liz Trinnear. But ordinary shoppers have had a tough time getting their hands on her designs—until now, that is. Cheung is currently holding her first-ever pop-up shop. In collaboration with local retailer Jacflash, whose team has transformed a roomy Yorkville space into an elegant parlour, Cheung is showcasing her entire SS’14 collection—complete with asymmetrical minis, demure zippered vests and, of course, her signature “body-con” frocks. Prices range from $65 for a long-sleeved crop top to $350 for an embellished leather skirt. Jewellery is a bit more expensive, with a Swarovski crystal and antique arrowhead necklace going for $135, and a gunmetal chain choker clocking in at $425.
