The Find: Danish-designed wool slippers for the chilliest mornings

Some slippers try to pass themselves off as shoes, with leather uppers and a muted colour scheme. We say they’re not fooling anyone, and you’re better off embracing slippers’ elf-like goodness (’tis the season, after all). Our favourites are these colourful booties called Glerups after Nanny Glerup, a Danish woman who started making them in the early ’90s as a way to do something with the leftover wool produced by her sheep. Apart from calfskin soles to prevent slipping, they’re made from pure wool, which is gently washed, formed into socks and steam-felted into the shape of a foot. The resulting slippers are cushy, extremely warm and made to be worn without socks. Or embarrassment. $89.95.
