Attention last-minute shoppers: check out our picks for put-a-smile-on-his-face Father’s Day gifts

The race is on, and we’re thinking the last thing dads want is a three-pack of golf balls, another humidor or even another barbecue (unless it’s some state-of-the-art outdoor wood burner, but we called Williams Sonoma and it isn’t available in Canada). We searched around and picked some practical and decadent options for the dads in our lives, hoping it would somehow make up for all the times we were sent to bed without dessert. We think our choices beat a gift card to Montana’s, but don’t take our word for it, have a look at our choices after the jump.

- A wallet is an essential, and most dads will let their old Italian leather number wear till it’s starting to smell. We like this vintage bi-fold wallet (available in a variety of colours), because it’s slim and already looks worn in, so it won’t be a big lifestyle change.

Woodlawn, 1491 Dundas St. W., 416-551-8000, woodlawnshop.com

Fortunately my kids are too young to read Toronto Life. Otherwise, they might buy me some overpriced junk that no one has any use for.
This list:
“Things to test your dad’s poker face.”
Or:
“Things your dad will like if you have 2 of them and they’re married to each other.”
Some lovely objects, but with the exception of the pocket knife thing, this is stuff that will earn you the least favourite child title.
