The atmosphere across Toronto right now is distinctly electric. With the city steps away from hosting the world’s elite athletes for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the local sports community is operating at a peak collective hum. Toronto has always been a city deeply rooted in soccer culture, but this summer, the shared anticipation has moved straight into the mainstream.

To mark this incredible moment where world-class sport meets local hospitality, Tequila Don Julio, an official FIFA World Cup 2026™ supporter, is giving local fans a unique way to bring a piece of that tournament glory home. As part of their new “Made to Be Raised” campaign, they’ve dropped a stunning, limited-edition Tequila Don Julio 1942 with a new colour palette design that serves as a tribute to the famous golden, World Cup trophy.

A universal symbol of victory

If you’ve ever watched a major sports championship, you’ve probably seen a bottle of Don Julio 1942 in the mix.

To connect that legacy of victory with the tournament arriving to Canada, Mexico, and the United States, the brand has redesigned its iconic bottle colours. The limited-edition offering honors the pantone colours of the official FIFA World Cup 2026™ trophy, by wrapping the iconic 1942 bottle in a luminous gold finish and topped with a beautiful, malachite stone closure.

The design instantly brings back memories of soccer’s greatest triumphs. In fact, the campaign features legendary retired striker Thierry Henry kissing the bottle, a poetic nod to him kissing the actual trophy when France won the World Cup back in 1998.

“Tequila Don Julio 1942 has long been associated with elevated celebration and milestone moments around the world,” says Natalie Goldberg, director of luxury at Diageo Canada. “With Made To Be Raised and this limited-edition bottle, we wanted to give fans a collectible worthy of celebrating the unforgettable moments that define the FIFA World Cup 2026™.”

The craft behind the pour

Whether you’re a professional athlete celebrating a historic win under stadium lights or a fan cheering from a living room in the city, a big moment deserves an equally exceptional drink. Behind this trophy-inspired look is the same careful, traditional craftsmanship that tequila fans expect from the brand.

Made in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, this release maintains the same liquid and incredibly high standards set by founder Don Julio González for Tequila Don Julio 1942. It is made from 100 percent Blue Weber agave and aged for a minimum of two years in American white oak barrels. This slow interaction with the wood gives the tequila its complex, delicious flavour profile, full of notes of warm oak, rich vanilla and sweet roasted agave. It’s beautifully balanced and famously smooth, making it perfect for sipping neat or over a single large ice cube while you watch the action unfold.

As the first whistle blows and Toronto transforms into a global hub for football enthusiasts, the “Made to Be Raised” bottle gives local fans a chance to own a piece of history.

You can find the limited-edition Tequila Don Julio 1942 FIFA World Cup 2026™ bottle at the LCBO and participating Canadian liquor stores right now, but it’s only here for a limited time while supplies last. To get into the spirit of the tournament, make sure to check out local fan activations and interactive retail pop-ups happening around Toronto all summer long. Please enjoy responsibly.
