The history

The current owners knocked down a bungalow to clear the way for this two-storey home, which was designed with a walk-out basement suite, so that relatives coming from overseas to stay for long periods of time would have lots of privacy and space:

Big selling point

Many of the fittings—like the 48-inch Thermador range in the kitchen—are top of the line. The house shouldn’t need major upgrades for quite some time.

Possible deal breaker

The owners are having a child, and they felt some aspects of the house, like the glass-enclosed staircase, would be hard to baby-proof. Young families may need to hunt for a space that isn’t so assertively tailored to adult tastes:

By the numbers

• $3,279,000 • $9,246.32 in taxes (2016) • 3,100 square feet • 60-by-123-foot lot • 6 parking spaces • 5 bedrooms • 4.5 bathrooms
