Surreal Estate: $6.2 million for an après-ski haven in the Blue Mountains with a CrossFit gym

What wintry lodge would be complete without nine bathrooms, a three-sided fireplace, a theatre and a backyard built for shinny?

Surreal Estate: $6.2 million for an après-ski haven in the Blue Mountains with a CrossFit gym

Location: The Blue Mountains
Price: $6,275,000 Size: 8,958 square feet plus a one-acre backyard Bedrooms: 7 Bathrooms: 9 Real estate agent: Holly Stone, Sotheby’s International Realty Canada Photos: Elevatedphotos.ca

The place

A seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom villa in the Blue Mountains. The house sits on a one-acre property on Wyandot Court: an affluent cul-de-sac sandwiched between Blue Mountain Ski Resort’s tallest slopes and the southern edge of Georgian Bay. It has too many amenities to count (more on those ahead) and is a short drive from downtown Collingwood.

The history

A family of four bought this mansion in 2020, two years after its construction, to feed their skiing habit. They spent their winters walking to and from the hills several times per day, training in their 550-square-foot gym and lounging in their theatre room between sessions. Both adult children have recently accepted jobs in other cities, says realtor Holly Stone, which has left the opulent home an empty nest. The parents now hope to attract buyers who share their love of the slope-side lifestyle.

The tour

The façade—clad in stained wood and charcoal brick—stands perpendicular to the three-car garage.

Inside, beyond the foyer’s 20-foot ceilings and switchback staircase, is the open-concept main floor. Note the three-sided fireplace carved out of the half wall.

The ceilings on the main floor reach 20 feet.

On the other side of that wall is the dining room, with a custom light fixture and a backyard walkout.

This reverse angle highlights the wine cooler and mini bar.

The owners turned this nook into a bar.

Here’s a closer look at the kitchen, with a Sputnik light fixture and a four-seat waterfall island. Surrounding it are new stainless steel appliances and bespoke floor-to-ceiling oak cabinets.

The cabinets are custom oak.

Down the hall is a huge office—an ideal spot to appreciate the front and side yards (or to contemplate world domination).

An office fit world domination.

The gym has everything a winter athlete needs, including a rough-in for a golf simulator.

Upstairs, the main bedroom features a wall adorned with oak panels and a balcony overlooking the hills.

There’s also a spa-grade ensuite bathroom equipped with a double glass shower, a floating vanity and a soaker tub.

Welcome to the spa-grade ensuite.

Even the tub has a picturesque view.

This is one of the secondary bedrooms. It also has an ensuite.

Down the hall is this second office, which wouldn’t be out of place at the headquarters of a tech start-up.

This secondary office is fit for a fancy start-up.

In fact, the owners set up this adjacent bedroom as a hub for gaming and programming.

In the basement: a dreamy rec room with a second kitchen and a wet bar.

Future residents may never leave the basement rec room.

And if that wasn’t fun enough, there’s also a theatre.

The home theatre.

Outside, there’s a giant stone patio flanked by an outdoor living room and a hot tub. The backyard itself is just under an acre and has been a hotspot for shinny in the winter.

From this view, the home may as well be a hotel.

Finally, here’s an aerial view of the home and its neighbours, backdropped by some of the province’s most serene slopes.

A view of The Blue Mountains that never gets old.
