With all the talk of condo bubbles, over-the-top bidding wars and failed flips, wading into Toronto’s housing market requires equal parts bravery and real estate savvy. To help with the latter, we decided to dish when the properties we profile in our House of the Week, Condomonium and Cottage of the Week features are sold. Here, all the details from the latest sale.
The full description: Condomonium: $785,000 for a two-level unit with a private rooftop patio in the Beach [August 17, 2012]
• The place: A top-floor, two-level suite in the Beach House Lofts. The mixed-use building blends in with the neighbouring storefronts and won a 2009 Toronto Urban Design Award.
• The agent: Kerri-Ann Brownlee, Bosley Real Estate
• Listed price: $785,000
• Sale price: $765,000
• Time on the market: 64 days
• The buyers: The people who showed interest were mostly young professionals and empty nesters, and the rooftop terrace and modern loft layout were both draws (along with the proximity to the beach, natch). Some potential buyers were bothered by the lack of an elevator, but the sellers still inked a deal in a little over two months.
