Sold: an industrial loft from a Sarah Polley movie for $785,000

• The place: A one-bedroom unit in the Candy Factory Lofts, across the street from Trinity Bellwoods Park. The unit was owned by film director Sarah Polley’s father, and is the setting for several scenes in Polley’s acclaimed 2012 documentary, Stories We Tell.
• The agent: Nick Whittington, Brad J. Lamb Realty Inc., Brokerage
• Listed price: $849,900. The seller reduced the price to $799,000 in an effort to generate an offer before the market slowed for the holidays.
• Sale price: $785,000
• Time on the market: 32 days
• The buyers: The buyer, an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University, had recently sold his house and had always harboured a yen to live in the Candy Factory building. When he wandered into this loft during a weekend open house, he was instantly smitten.
