Address: 38150 Georgian Bay Shore
Neighbourhood: Mactier Agent: Paul Crammond, Chestnut Park Real Estate, Brokerage Price: $2,950,000

The place: A 70s-era cottage built into the granite shoreline of Georgian Bay. It consists of three separate buildings and it comes with two islands located a short distance offshore—perfect for sunset picnics.

The history: The current owners built this cottage compound in the 1970s and 1980s, and they haven’t done any significant renovations since then.

Big selling point: There’s something pristine about the old-school architecture here. The interiors are all British Columbia cedar and expanses of wall-to-wall windows, which help the property blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings.

Possible deal breaker: Though the property is on the mainland, it’s only accessible by a five-minute boat ride from a nearby marina. That means the owners will probably need to add a boat to the purchase price—though a boat is never a bad thing to have on Georgian Bay, regardless. Because the property is so close to the marina, the owners can simply walk across the ice if they want to visit in the winter.

By the Numbers:

• $2,950,000 • $18,200 in taxes (2014) • 1,300 feet of shoreline • 12 acres • 7 bedrooms • 4 bathrooms • 2 islands
